(Gowan, Wykes, Burton(Tonks), Smith, McBean, Johnson, Edwards, Marsden, Rowley, Hines, Rolph(Murphy)

Downes produced a strong second half display last Saturday to overcome Holwell Sports 5-2 to reach to Semi Finals of the Jelson Senior Cup.

The first twenty five minutes were completely dominated by Downes, and they got their reward on 18 minutes when Steve Hines was sent clear down the right and his pin point cross was headed home by Dean Edwards.

The lead was doubled on 25 minutes, Mark Rolph back after injury raced onto a huge Downes defensive clearance to lob past the on rushing Holwell keeper.

The game however was about to swing the visitors way. Holwell were given a lifeline when Ricky Marsden's attempted clearance was sliced into the path of Keast who raced clear to round Gowan and slot home.
Five minutes before the break a ressurgent Holwell were level, Matt Johnson's weak defensive header was collected by Jason Joshi who squared for Keast to equalise.

The half time whistle arrived just in time for Downes, who at the break were given a few harsh words and managed to regroup and come out with all guns blazing.

Within 30 seconds of the restart topscorer Steve Hines latched onto Chris Gowan's monster goalkick to lift the ball superbly over the keeper for 3-2.

This was the catalyst for Downes to control proceedings again and began to create frequent chances.

On 65 minutes Steve Hines scored his second when he hit an unstoppable volley across the keeper into the far corner of the net.

Within seconds of coming on sub Gary Murphy had a great chance to seal victory but blazed over when in acres of space.

With five minutes to go the win was complete when Hines squared for Dean Edwards who side footed into the roof of the net for his second and Downes fifth.
